Abstract

Hip arthroplasty an increasingly frequent intervention with specific risks depend on the surgical technique; including cardiopulmonary depression multifactorial during implantation of bone cement for placing the prosthesis, with systemic hypotension and sudden heart failure secondary right ventricle to increased pressure in the pulmonary artery, which is called syndrome implantation of bone cement. In general, there is a noticeable decrease in the volume of the heart accompanied by the increase in the area of the right ventricle and left ventricle decreased. This article presents a review of the characteristics of this syndrome, classification of severity, incidence, pathophysiology, risk factors, signs and symptoms, strategies, risk reduction and treatment, around a case that was treated successfully presented.
