    Resumen

ROCHA, Jaime A; VELARDE, Javier; TERAN, Rosse Mary  y  CABALLERO, Cristian. Evaluation of protective coatings and characterization of the atmosphere's corrosivity. Rev. Met. UTO [online]. 2011, n.30, pp. 43-48. ISSN 2078-5593.

In this work, two important goals were looked for: The first is the characterization of the aggressive corrosive atmospheres and the seconds is proving the anticorrosive coating for steel in our country. It's necessary in Bolivia to study the atmosphere in each region, because the country is divided into three different regions and each one has differences characteristics. Due to this project, the characterization in three cities, one for each region, was achieved. The results show that the atmosphere in Santa Cruz is wet and hot. In Cochabamba and La Paz the atmosphere has al-most the same moisture level, but in Cochabamba the temperature is higher. The highest level of nude steel corrosion, attending to the co-rrosion rate, was founded in Santa Cruz, followed by Cochabamba and La Paz, although this city has higher level of contamination. The most damaged coatings were registered in Santa Cruz, followed by Cochabamba and La Paz. The test tubes of galvanized steel showed that the surface was getting white, this is a characteristic of the zinc coating oxidation, but the tubes didn't show other defects or corrosion of the steel in the base. In spite of all the tests showed good anticorrosive protection, the schemes with e-poxic resin lost their brightness and they showed more level of chalk. According to the level of chalk, the ones made by acrylic res-in had the best results
