ABSTRACT In recent decades, universities worldwide and especially those in Latin America have taken very seriously institutional evaluation processes as a mechanism to respond the increasing demands of quality management and excellence. Universities are currently implementing self-assessment processes, external feed back and ultimately achieve accreditation at national and international levels. The self-assessment process is the basis on which external evaluation is developed according to the General Rules for Assessment and Accreditation of the Bolivian University System (XI National Congress of Universities, 2009). At "Universidad Mayor de San Andrés", according to the Rules of Self Assessment, Evaluation, and Accreditation approved by Resolution HCU No. 144/09 dated on May 6, 2009, stated in Articles 18 and 19: "Self-assessment will be based on the application of scientific and technical procedures for assessing the quality of the University's achievements, career or program, conducted by the very members of the university community". The Computer Science Department, is facing the self-evaluation process since 2012, allowing he consolidation of the culture of self-assessment and institutional self regulation, strengthening the credibility and recognition of the community, within the rules and policy of "San Andres" University (UMSA).
