FERNANDEZ DE ARAUJO MERUVIA, María Lucía. The decrease of the distance between the public and the private in the late modernity in Bolivia: a sociological review about the collective interest for the private life of public figures. J. Com. Soc. [online]. 2018, vol.6, n.6, pp. 139-167. ISSN 2412-5733.
The collective interest in the private life of public figures turns out to be a phenomenon as old as humanity. However, the development of social monitoring and control tools is a prodigy that occurs more and more frequently in Western countries. Nowadays, the interest in private life is fostered by the mass consumption of the mass media. In 2013, the phenomenon was evident in Bolivian society when the video of a journalist came to light. The video was explicit. However, it is necessary to emphasize that Bolivia has two realities, one of a globalized community and another that can even be qualified as pre-modern.
