Abstract The sources of knowledge (software) and the physical structures (hardware) of non-western Andean agriculture and Western agriculture are culturally, historically and epistemologically different. The experimental epistemological analysis show sthat the Andean man "walks looking to the past, to project himself into the future", metaphorically in his historical evolution he advances walking backwards, looking at his paston w hich he projects and builds his future, his life and his agriculture, therefore has another notion of the world, its agriculture, its history and its events, the isotropic heterogeneiy of the Andean geography, modeled itsattitude and behavior. On the other hand, for the developed westem societies, the past is behind, it is barbarous and must be forgotten and the future is ahead, therefore it is necessary to leave behind the agriculture of the past and to develop cutting-edge technologies, the man of the West is managed under a concept of linearity, and w ith their planned times. It is not intended to deny or detract from Western know ledge of agriculture, but to understand its scope and limitations, especially w hen it is intended to introduce knowledge and technologies generated in other latitudes, to a completely different geographical, cultural and economic environment. The debate becomes necessary because the revaluation of the andean non-western know ledge of agriculture does not correspond to an attack on current scientific know ledge, on the contrary, it is an input to be encouraged and placed within the problem that our rural Andean communities have.
