ABSTRACT The main objective ofthis study is to determine which is the most appropriate model to analyze child survival data in Bolivia. In addition to Cox 'sproportional hazards semiparametric model, three parametric models are evaluated: exponential, Weibull, andgeneralizedgamma. To address the objective, three results are compared: the coejficients estimated from the different models, the significance ofthe covariates in terms ofthe p-value, and the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC). It is concluded that the Weibull model is more appropriate than the Cox model to analyze child survival data in Bolivia, although both models lead to similar results. It is also recommended to always contrast the results ofthe parametric models with those ofthe Cox model.
